Valtrex (valacyclovir) is an oral herpes suppressive therapy that effectively can limit the duration and the severity of herpes outbreaks and can even prevent it from reoccurring in the future; it is also used to treat shingles and cold sores.
While this drug is right for most people, some people may not be able to take it, including those who currently suffer from kidney disease or a weakened immune system.
